WHAT IS BIODIESEL?

BIODIESEL IN THE WORLD

Many countries in the world, especially developed countries, are trying to increase the share of use of renewable energy sources due to their energy policies. For this reason, incentive and support programs are determined by law. In Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, biodiesel is legally tax-exempt.

USA: Biodiesel production and consumption are supported through different programs. Incentives are aimed at reducing production costs. Some of the incentive applications are the bioenergy consumer loan program, air quality improvement program, and tax deduction program for clean fuel infrastructure. Biodiesel incentives vary by state in the USA. Legally, there are regulations for vehicle fleets to run on alternative fuels.

Germany: It is legally possible to use 100% biodiesel. Biodiesel is exempt from excise taxes. Tax credits apply for biodiesel. This exemption also applies to pure biodiesel and blended biodiesel.

France: A tax incentive of 0,35 Euro per liter is applied for biodiesel. Blends of up to 5% are allowed in oil refineries.

Italy: Tax exemptions for certain periods are applied to facilities with an annual capacity of up to 125,000 tons. Biodiesel is generally used as a home heating fuel in Italy.

Belgium: 100% use allowed. Tax incentives are applied for some experimental projects.

Finland: Tax incentives apply.

Greece and Bulgaria: Biodiesel is neither taxed nor subsidized.

Spain: Tax deductions are made for biodiesel used in experimental projects, but financial support is not provided.

Austria: There is no tax on renewable raw materials. The use of 100% biodiesel is allowed and has tax exemption.
