WORKS HAVE BEGUN TO PRODUCE JET FUEL FROM SAFFLOWER
It has been reported that the studies on the production of jet fuel from safflower, known as a drought-tolerant plant and used as animal feed until recent years, have started.
Prof. Dr. Akınerdem, President of the Turkish Safflower Association, said, "We will get results that will make us proud by using safflower as jet fuel. All our efforts are to meet the jet fuel needs of the Turkish Air Force and Turkish Airlines by using safflower. Our work in this direction continues at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources."
The miraculous plant safflower, which is shown in the alternative energy group and used for producing biodiesel, is among the products whose production has been increasing in the last ten years. Food oil can also be produced from this plant grown in arid regions. Safflower, which is preferred due to its drought resistance, is also known as quality animal feed with its high protein value.
Safflower, which is produced in summer and winter, is one of the products that farmers are increasingly interested in with the high premiums given in agricultural supports in recent years.
